Year 11 and 12 Music and Entertainment students, along with those on Creative Arts Scholarships, recently had an opportunity to draw inspiration from SPCC alumni making waves in the Performing Arts Industry. The event featured producer, playwright, and actor Sonia Dodd (Class of 2015) and musician and producer Luke O’Dea (Class of 2004). These two industry professionals shared the highs and lows of their post-graduation journeys and offered a glimpse into the realities of working in the performing arts.

In an engaging interview conducted by the Director of Music Programs and Scholarships Coordinator, Dayne Grindley, Sonia and Luke shared openly about their experience going from passionate students to accomplished professionals. They delved into the importance of honing one's craft, the relentless discipline required to turn inspiration into tangible work, and the critical, yet challenging, process of relinquishing the pursuit of perfection. Their stories resonated deeply, showcasing the blend of dedication and resilience necessary to thrive in the creative world.

The students were thankful for the chance to interact with alumni who once sat in their very seats and have since carved out notable careers. They valued the candid advice and personal anecdotes that Sonia and Luke generously shared, which provided inspiration and encouragement . Our sincere thanks go out to Sonia and Luke for their invaluable contributions. We eagerly anticipate more opportunities for current students to learn from alumni.
